An Integrative Approach to Counseling

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Every person brings different experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals into counseling. My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from different therapeutic techniques to create an individualized and collaborative experience. Together, we can explore approaches that align with your needs, preferences, and goals.

Person-Centered Counseling

A supportive, collaborative approach that emphasizes empathy, understanding, and respect for each person's experiences and individual goals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT explores the connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Practical strategies may help clients develop self-awareness, consider unhelpful thinking patterns, and practice new coping skills.

DBT-Informed Skills

When appropriate, counseling may incorporate skills informed by Dialectical Behavior Therapy, including mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Creative & Art-Based Interventions

Sometimes, thoughts and feelings are difficult to put into words. Creative activities such as drawing, journaling, visual reflection, and other forms of artistic expression may provide additional ways to explore experiences, express emotions, and develop self-awareness.

No artistic experience is necessary. The emphasis is on personal expression and exploration rather than the finished product.

Mindfulness-Based Interventions

Mindfulness encourages greater awareness of thoughts, emotions, and present-moment experiences without judgment.

Practices may include grounding exercises, breathing techniques, guided reflection, and sensory awareness to support emotional regulation, stress management, and self-awareness.

Counseling is a collaborative process. Creative activities, mindfulness practices, and other therapeutic techniques are incorporated based on individual needs, preferences, comfort, and goals. Participation in these activities is always optional.
